BGS Medical College & Hospital Conducts Comprehensive School Health Education and Health Screening Camp at Government High School, Arasinakunte

The Departments of Community Medicine, Pediatrics, and ENT jointly conducted a School Health Education and Health Screening Camp at Government High School, Arasinakunte, near Soluru. The programme was organized in the presence of the Headmistress, Mrs. Bharathi V.

A total of 49 students (23 girls and 26 boys) participated in the programme.

As part of the programme, Professor Dr. Satish B. C., Department of Community Medicine, delivered a health education session on “Healthy Adolescents, Healthy Future” for the boys, while Dr. R. Preeti, Senior Resident, Department of Community Medicine, coordinated the camp and conducted a separate session for the girls, with special emphasis on adolescent health issues and menstrual hygiene management. The health education sessions covered healthy nutrition, physical activity, personal hygiene, mental well-being, prevention of tobacco and substance abuse, and responsible use of mobile phones and social media. Students actively participated in the sessions.

Health screening was carried out by Dr. Sahana, Senior Resident, Department of Pediatrics, and Dr. Anjan Kumar, Resident, Department of ENT. Blood grouping was performed by the Laboratory Technician, while the Staff Nurse coordinated the measurement of height and weight and assisted in dispensing basic medicines free of cost to the students.

The Departments express their sincere gratitude to the Dean/ Principal, the Chief of Hospital (COH), Resident Medical Officer (RMO), the Head of the Department of Community Medicine, the Head of the Department of Pediatrics, the Head of the Department of ENT, all faculty members, resident doctors, nursing staff, laboratory technician, and supporting staff for their invaluable support in making the programme a success.

The Departments also extend their heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Bharathi V., Headmistress, the teaching staff, and the students of Government High School, Arasinakunte, near Soluru, for their excellent cooperation and enthusiastic participation, which contributed to the successful completion of the programme. The programme concluded with all students taking a Health Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to adopt healthy lifestyle practices, maintain personal hygiene, stay away from tobacco, alcohol, and substance abuse, and take responsibility for their physical and mental well-being.
