White Coat Ceremony 2025: Formal Induction of First Year MBBS Students at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur
Introduction
BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, under Adichunchanagiri University, Bengaluru Campus, organized the White Coat Ceremony for the 1st year MBBS students on 20th November 2025 (Thursday) at 11:00 a.m. onwards in Lecture Hall–2, New Building. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of newly admitted medical students, symbolizing their formal induction into the noble medical profession and reinforcing the values of ethics, compassion, and professionalism.
Event Proceedings
The programme commenced with an invocation song rendered by the 1st year MBBS students, setting a solemn and auspicious tone for the ceremony. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Suma M. P., Professor, Department of Anatomy, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and parents, and emphasized the importance of the White Coat Ceremony in shaping professional identity. The event was formally inaugurated by the dignitaries through lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and service. This was followed by the distribution of white coats to the 1st year MBBS students by the dignitaries, signifying their entry into the medical profession.Subsequently, the students took the Charaka Shapath, administered by Dr. K. S. Gangadhara, Principal & Dean, reaffirming their commitment to ethical medical practice and patient care.An address on the importance of the white coat was delivered by Dr. Krishnamurthy V. R., Chief of Hospital, highlighting the responsibility, discipline, and compassion expected of future doctors.The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Mallikarjun Suligavi, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, acknowledging the guidance and support of all dignitaries, faculty members, and organizers. The event proceedings were efficiently compered by Miss Leena Lakshmi Prasanna, Tutor, Department of Physiology.
