BGS VINS Conducts Faculty Development Programme on Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation
The BGS VINS Skill Lab recently served as the venue for a comprehensive Faculty Development Programme titled Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation: An Attempt to Empower the Nursing Faculty for Clinical Evaluation. Held on July 25, 2026, the session was led by Dr. Shriharsha C, Principal of BGS VINS, with the primary objective of enhancing the pedagogical competencies of nursing educators. The program addressed the critical need for objective and reliable methodologies in clinical assessments, ensuring that faculty members are well equipped to evaluate student performance in a standardized and competency based framework.
During the opening sessions, Dr. Shriharsha C provided an in depth analysis of the challenges associated with traditional clinical evaluation methods, which often suffer from subjective bias. The discourse highlighted how the OSCE model addresses these shortcomings by providing a transparent and accurate system for measuring clinical knowledge, psychomotor skills, communication proficiency, and professional behavior.
