ADICHUNCHANAGIRI, KARNATAKA – In a historic move toward unifying medical education and research standards in the state, Adichunchanagiri University (ACU) successfully hosted the inaugural meeting of the Karnataka Medical Universities Collaborative Consortium 2026. Held on March 20th at the MEU Hall, the summit brought together Vice-Chancellors, distinguished academicians, and policy leaders to lay the groundwork for a more integrated and innovation-driven healthcare ecosystem.
The event, meticulously moderated by Dr. Shilpa M, Professor of Physiology, began with a serene invocation by Ms. Nayana of the Vijnatham Institute of Allied Health Sciences. In his inaugural remarks, Dr. Col. S. N. Sridhara, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of ACU, articulated a bold vision for the consortium. He highlighted that the initiative is not merely about administrative cooperation but about creating a “living laboratory” for medical pedagogical excellence.
A pivotal moment of the day was the Vice-Chancellors’ Session, a high-level dialogue where institutional heads shared their roadmaps for the future. The discourse was enriched by the presence of ACU’s Founder Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Chandrashekhara Shetty, and Former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Shekhar, both of whom provided historical context and strategic wisdom on scaling medical research in Karnataka.
A Leap into the Digital Future
Addressing the intersection of technology and medicine, the consortium featured a specialized segment on the “Digital Health and AI Centre”. Dr. Sajjan Madappady presentation showcased how Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation are currently being harnessed to enhance clinical outcomes and streamline healthcare delivery. The delegates explored collaborative pathways for AI-enabled diagnostics and data-sharing protocols that could benefit rural and urban patient populations alike.
The summit reached its crescendo with the formal Exchange of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This landmark agreement binds the participating universities to a shared mission of faculty exchange, joint research projects, and standardized curriculum development.
Spiritual Guidance and Social Commitment
The gathering was graced by the Aashirvachan (divine blessings) of Paramapoojya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, Honorable Chancellor of ACU.
