VITROS GOLIVE Launch at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagaruru

Introduction

The Department of Biochemistry & Laboratory Medicine, BGS Medical College and Hospital (BGSMCH), Bengaluru, a constituent college of Adichunchanagiri University, organized an Interactive Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme cum Panel Discussion on 28th April 2026 at the MEU Hall, BGSMCH, Bengaluru. The event was conducted with the dual objective of the ceremonial GoLive launch of the VITROS 5600 Integrated Analyser and an academic session on “Novel Markers & Utility Updates” across Cardiology, Diabetes/Endocrinology, Paediatrics, and Sepsis/Critical Care.

The programme brought together clinical and laboratory experts to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and enhance understanding of advanced diagnostic technologies and their clinical applications.

Event Proceedings

The programme commenced with the ceremonial inauguration of the VITROS 5600 Integrated Analyser, marking a significant advancement in the diagnostic capabilities of the BGSMCH Central Laboratory. The inauguration was graced by Dr. Gangadhara K S, Dean cum Principal, BGSMCH; Dr. Krishnamurthy V R, Chief of Hospital; and Dr. Pradeep Kumar, RMO, BGSMCH.

From the Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Prithvi Shankar, Vice Principal and Professor & Head, and Dr. Suresh D R, Professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Central Laboratory, participated in the proceedings. Industry representatives from QuidelOrtho included Mr. Thirupathi Thota, Business Manager, and Mr. Swami Saravanan, Regional Manager for Customer Excellence.

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Mallikarjun Suligavi, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry. This was followed by a detailed VITROS update presentation by the QuidelOrtho (QO) team, highlighting the expanded test menu, enabling technologies, and quality assurance features of the platform designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and reliability.

The CME sessions focused on novel diagnostic markers and their clinical utility across multiple specialties. Faculty from the Central Laboratory delivered sessions emphasizing risk stratification in cardiology, metabolic monitoring in diabetes and endocrinology, pediatric diagnostic considerations, and critical care biomarkers in sepsis management.
