The Department of ENT at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, successfully commemorated World Voice Day 2026 with an academic seminar held at the MEU Hall on April 17, 2026. This global observance is dedicated to recognizing the significance of the human voice and raising awareness about the prevention and management of voice disorders. The theme for this year, “Caring for Our Voices,” highlighted the importance of maintaining vocal health through awareness, early diagnosis, and appropriate clinical care.
Event Proceedings
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. P. R. Venkatarajamma, Professor and Head of the Department of ENT, who emphasized the importance of vocal health in both clinical practice and everyday life. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Dean, Resident Medical Officer, esteemed guest speakers, and the Head of the Department, marking the formal inauguration of the program.
Major Nikhil S. Bhardwaj, Associate Professor in the Department of ENT, introduced the distinguished guest speakers to the audience. The academic session featured expert lectures by Dr. Manjunath M. K., Senior Consultant ENT and Laryngologist at BGS Gleneagles Hospital, Bangalore, and Mrs. Aishwarya A., Speech Therapist and Audiologist at Pranik ENT Clinic, Bangalore.
Dr. Manjunath M. K. delivered an insightful presentation on the clinical aspects of voice disorders, focusing on diagnosis, evaluation, and management strategies. Mrs. Aishwarya A. complemented the session with practical insights into voice hygiene, rehabilitation techniques, and preventive care. The sessions were highly informative and encouraged active participation from faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals.
The event was effectively moderated by Dr. Chandana, who served as the Master of Ceremonies and ensured the smooth conduct of the program.
