Inauguration of the Advanced Digital Library and Celebration of National Librarians’ Day

BGS Medical College & Hospital hosted the Inauguration of its Advanced Digital Library on 12 August 2026, coinciding with the celebration of National Librarians’ Day. The event marked an important milestone in strengthening the institution’s academic and digital learning infrastructure and was attended by the senior leadership, Principals, faculty members, professors and staff of the institution.

The inauguration was graced by Dr. K. S. Gangadhara, Dean-cum-Principal; Dr. Krishnamurthy V. R., Chief of Hospital; Dr. Prithvi Shankar, Vice-Principal, BGSMCH; Dr. Pradeep, RMO; Mr. Anand, Nursing Superintendent; Professor Madan Mohan, Principal, Vijnatham Institute of Physiotherapy; Dr. Sri Harsha, Principal, Vijnatham Institute of Nursing Science; and Dr. Payal, Principal, Vijnatham Institute of Allied Health Sciences, along with Heads of Departments, professors and faculty members of the institution.

The programme commenced with a prayer by Hitha, Second MBBS, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and floral dedication to the revered Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji and Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom and academic excellence.

This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Mr. Muniraju M., Chief Librarian, who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members and staff and highlighted the significance of the occasion. The National Librarians’ Day speech was delivered by Nagalakshmi, highlighting the evolving role of librarians and libraries in supporting academic and research activities in the digital era.

The newly established Advanced Digital Library was then introduced to the gathering. Nanjegowda, Deputy Librarian, and Ashoka, Assistant Librarian, delivered the Digital Library speech and provided an overview of its digital resources, facilities and academic support services. The initiative is aimed at providing students and faculty with enhanced access to digital learning resources, scholarly information and research materials, thereby supporting teaching, learning and research activities across the institution.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Deekshith, Assistant Librarian, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, staff and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

The inauguration of the Advanced Digital Library, together with the celebration of National Librarians’ Day, represented a significant step towards fostering a modern, technology-enabled and knowledge-driven academic environment at BGS Medical College & Hospital.
