Talk on Immunization week 2026
Introduction
In observance of World Immunisation Week 2026, an Immunisation Awareness Programme was organized by BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, at Gopalapura Primary Health Centre (PHC) on 24 April 2026 at 11:00 AM. The programme commenced with a welcome and introductory address by Dr. Chiranth, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine.
The event was conducted with the objective of enhancing awareness regarding the importance of vaccination across all age groups, in alignment with this year’s global theme, “For Every Generation, Vaccines Work.” The programme witnessed active participation from healthcare professionals, faculty members, and members of the local community.
Event Proceedings
The keynote session on immunisation was delivered by Dr. Aditi G., Senior Resident, Department of Pediatrics. She provided a comprehensive overview of the significance of vaccination, elaborating on its scientific basis and its role in preventing infectious diseases. Her session highlighted the long-term benefits of immunisation in building population-level immunity and safeguarding public health.
Subsequently, an awareness session on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination was conducted by Dr. Sindhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine. She discussed the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer and emphasized the recent national initiative offering the vaccine free of cost to adolescents aged 14–15 years. Her talk underscored the importance of early intervention and community awareness in ensuring the success of such public health programmes.
