Adichunchanagiri University, in collaboration with BGS Medical College and Hospital, successfully hosted a profound literary and cultural symposium titled Kannada Sahitya mattu Vartamana, Sahitya Samvada. Held on April 6, 2026, at the BGS Medical College and Hospital campus in Nagarur, the event served as a significant platform for celebrating the enduring legacy of the Kannada language while exploring its relevance within contemporary societal frameworks. The gathering was organized under the divine blessings and vision of Paramapoojya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University, whose guidance continues to bridge the gap between traditional cultural values and modern academic excellence.
The symposium was meticulously structured under the guidance of Professor Chandrashekaraiah and Dr. K. S. Gangadhara, Dean and Principal of BGS Medical College and Hospital, alongside Dr. Krishnamurthy V. R. and Dr. Subbraya, Registrar of the university. The event successfully drew an audience of approximately 410 attendees, comprising a diverse demographic of distinguished poets, local citizens, faculty members, and students from various constituent institutions. Participating schools and colleges included the Vijnatham Institute of Physiotherapy, the Vijnatham Institute of Nursing, the Vijnatham Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Adichunchanagiri Ayurveda Medical College, BGS World School, BGS PU College, and the BGS College of Education.
The day’s proceedings featured a sequence of intellectual and creative sessions, including an inaugural ceremony, scholarly addresses, and an interactive panel discussion. Professor M. Krishnegowda set a welcoming tone for the dialogue in his introductory address. The chief guest Dr. H. B. Boralingayya provided deep insights into the evolution of Kannada literature, while speakers such as Dr. J. Srinivasamurthy, Dr. C. Naganna, and Dr. J. N. Tejasri contributed valuable perspectives during the thematic technical sessions. A Keynote address of the Kavigoshti, a poets meet, was given by Sri Subbu Holeyar A central highlight of the symposium was the Kavigoshti, chaired by Sri Chandrashekar Talya, where participants engaged in the recitation of emotive and thought-provoking verses.
The valedictory session, headlined by Dr. Basavaraj Kalgudi, underscored the necessity of maintaining cultural identity in an increasingly globalized world. The entire program was fluently compered by Dr. Shilpa M. and Dr. Kruttika Naik, ensuring a seamless flow of ideas between the podium and the audience.
