BGS Vijnatham Institute of Physiotherapy Celebrates World Physiotherapy Day 2026 with Strategic Health Initiatives

BGS Vijnatham Institute of Physiotherapy marked a significant milestone in its institutional journey by celebrating World Physiotherapy Day 2026 at the ACU Bengaluru Campus in Nagaruru. The event served as a platform to advocate for the critical role of physical therapy in public health, specifically focusing on this year’s central theme of cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention. The gathering brought together a distinguished assembly of medical professionals, faculty members from the Allied Health Sciences and Nursing departments to reflect on the evolving landscape of rehabilitative medicine.

The formal proceedings were chaired by Dr. Krishnamurthy VR, Chief of the Hospital at BGS Medical College and Hospital, who emphasized the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration in modern healthcare. Adding a psychological dimension to the discourse, Dr. Virpuaksha, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, delivered an insightful lecture on the intrinsic link between mental well-being and physical health. His address underscored how maintaining a healthy mind is a foundational element in the prevention of chronic physiological conditions.

During the academic session, Professor Madan Mohan M.R., Principal of BGS Vijnatham Institute of Physiotherapy, provided a historical overview of World Physiotherapy Day, detailing its global significance in honoring the profession’s contributions to society. Further technical insights were shared by Dr. Vaishnavi, PT, who presented on the impact of lifestyle modifications and the specialized role of physiotherapy in managing cardiovascular health. The seminar highlighted how proactive physical intervention can drastically reduce the risk of stroke and heart-related complications.

A major highlight of the celebration was the official unveiling of the second edition of Engram, the institutional magazine. The publication serves as a comprehensive record of the college’s academic achievements and milestones over the past year. The launch symbolized the institution’s commitment to fostering a culture of research, documentation, and creative expression among its faculty and students.

The event concluded by honoring two major institutional breakthroughs referred to as the Twin 100 milestones. With the blessings of Mahaswamiji, the institute has successfully increased its Bachelor of Physiotherapy student intake to one hundred seats and achieved a consistent daily average of one hundred patients receiving care. For a young institution in its second year of operation, these achievements reflect rapid growth and a steadfast dedication to excellence in both clinical service and healthcare education.
