Introduction
In alignment with the National Immunization Day (NID) and India’s commitment to maintaining its polio-free status, a special Pulse Polio Drive was conducted on Sunday, 21st December 2025. This initiative was a joint effort between the Department of Paediatrics and the Department of Preventive & Social Medicine (P&SM) to ensure 100% coverage of eligible children in the designated catchment area. The campaign was conducted in coordination with Primary Health Centre (PHC), Makali, which supplied 10 vials of bOPV (Type 1 and Type 3) for the immunization drive. The booth activities were supervised by Anupama Sister, PHC Makali, ensuring smooth implementation and strict adherence to protocols. All operational guidelines and instructions, as per Government of India directives, were communicated and strictly adhered to.

Objectives
* To administer two drops of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to every child below 5 years of age.
* To educate parents on the importance of continued vaccination despite the absence of wild poliovirus in India.
* To identify and bridge gaps in routine immunization among the visiting families.

Implementation & Strategy
The drive was executed through a strategically located Immunization Booth at the [Insert Hospital Name/Location]. The workflow was divided as follows:
* Department of Paediatrics: Clinical screening of children, identifying high-risk cases, and managing parent queries regarding side effects or recent illnesses.
* Department of P&SM: Logistic management, cold chain maintenance, record keeping (tally sheets), and social mobilization to encourage nearby residents to bring their children.

Key Highlights
* Coverage: A total of 140 children were successfully vaccinated during the day-long booth activity.
* Cold Chain Management: Vaccine vials were maintained at the required temperature using vaccine carriers with conditioned ice packs, monitored by P&SM residents.
* Marking: Each vaccinated child was marked with indelible ink on the left pinky finger as per protocol.
* IEC Activities: Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, including posters and pamphlets, were displayed to raise awareness about the “Do Boond Zindagi Ki” (Two drops of life) campaign.
