Nutritional Day Program at BGS VINS on Nov 25th 2025

The Nutrition Day Program was organized on November 25, 2025, at BGS VINS, aiming to promote awareness about healthy dietary habits, balanced nutrition, and the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases among nursing students. The program’s objectives were to educate students about the components of a balanced diet, create awareness about malnutrition, obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies, develop skills in preparing nutritious and low-cost meals, and encourage healthy lifestyle practices among students. The program highlights included an inaugural address by Ms. Anat Antano and Mr. Basil Biju, 3rd Year BSc Nursing Students, a welcome speech and introduction of dignitaries, an invocation song by Ms. Sreshta T S Raj, 3rd Year BSc Nursing Student, and lighting of the lamp and floral tribute to revered SRI SRI SRI Dr. BALAGANGADARANATHA MAHASWAMIJI. Guest lectures and presentations were delivered on various therapeutic diets, including pregnancy diet, hepatic diet, diet for lactating mothers, geriatric diet, DASH diet, anemic diet, diabetic diet, obesity diet, diet for children, and renal diet. The outcomes of the program included increased awareness among nursing students about the role of nutrition in healthcare, students learned about the calculation of calories and how to plan therapeutic diets based on various socio-economic statuses of patients, strengthened collaboration between faculty and students in promoting health education, and positive feedback from participants regarding interactive learning methods. MS. Athulya Krishna, 3rd semester BSc Nursing Student, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and students for their participation and support. The Nutrition Day Program was a resounding success, achieving its objectives of promoting awareness about healthy dietary habits and balanced nutrition among nursing students, and providing a platform for students to learn about therapeutic diets and develop practical skills in dietary assessment and counseling.
