12th International Day of Yoga 2026 Celebrated at BGS World School, Nagaruru with the Theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”
The Ayurvedic Medical College, Nagaruru, successfully observed the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2026 at the BGS World School, Nagaruru campus. The event was organized in alignment with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighting the significance of yoga as a holistic approach to promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being among the ageing population. The programme emphasized the integration of ancient yogic traditions and Ayurvedic principles with contemporary strategies for healthy ageing and preventive healthcare.
The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Dr. K. S. Gangadhar, Dean-cum-Principal, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for maintaining overall health and longevity. Dr. V. R. Krishna Murthy, Chief of Hospital, Dr. Bayre Gowda, Principal, Ayurvedic Medical College, and Shanth Kumar, Principal, PU College, also participated in the programme and highlighted the role of yoga in fostering a healthy and balanced lifestyle across all age groups.
Faculty members, students, and staff actively participated in the yoga session, which included guided practice of various asanas, pranayama techniques, and relaxation exercises designed to enhance flexibility, improve metabolic health, strengthen immunity, and promote mental well-being. The sessions demonstrated how regular yogic practice can serve as an effective, non-invasive intervention for maintaining vitality, mobility, and cognitive function during the later stages of life.
The celebration reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting holistic health, wellness education, and community engagement. By focusing on healthy ageing, the programme created awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare and encouraged participants to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily routine.
