BGS Medical College & Hospital Faculty Participate in International Conference on “Interdisciplinary Approaches in Health Sciences for Translational Research” at Adichunchanagiri University

The International Conference on “Interdisciplinary Approaches in Health Sciences for Translational Research” was successfully organized by Adichunchanagiri University (ACU), B.G. Nagara, on 22nd and 23rd June 2026 from 9:30 AM onwards. The two-day conference brought together researchers, academicians, healthcare professionals, clinicians, scientists, and students from prestigious national and international institutions to deliberate on recent advancements, innovations, and collaborative opportunities in translational health sciences. The conference served as a dynamic platform for scientific exchange, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and promoting research that bridges laboratory discoveries with clinical applications to improve healthcare outcomes.

The conference commenced with an inaugural ceremony attended by distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, invited speakers, researchers, delegates, and students. The event was conducted under the Divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Padma Bhushana Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, Honourable Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University. During the inaugural session, the organizing committee welcomed the participants and highlighted the growing significance of interdisciplinary research in addressing emerging healthcare challenges through translational science. The conference was organized under the leadership of Dr. Prashantha Kalappa, Chairman, Organizing Committee, and Dr. Shobith Rangappa, Secretary, Organizing Committee, along with Dr. B.N. Shobha, Dr. Ravi Kumar G.K., Dr. K.S. Gangadhara, Dr. Ravi Kumar Reddy, Dr. Shwetha H. N., and Dr. Naveen Kumar G., whose dedicated efforts ensured the successful conduct of the scientific sessions, poster presentations, and overall conference proceedings.

A major highlight of the conference was the keynote address delivered by Prof. Shin-Ichiro Nishimura, Hokkaido University, Japan, who shared valuable insights into recent developments in translational health sciences, interdisciplinary collaborations, and future directions in biomedical research. His lecture emphasized the importance of integrating basic scientific discoveries with clinical practice to advance patient care and encouraged researchers to adopt multidisciplinary approaches for addressing global healthcare challenges.

BGS Medical College & Hospital was represented by a multidisciplinary team of faculty members from the Departments of Community Medicine and Biochemistry, comprising Dr. Raghuram V., Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine; Dr. Sajjan Madappady, Consultant, Digital Health and AI Centre; Dr. Anu Mohandas, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine; Dr. Babu Dilip, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine; Dr. A. R. Muralidharan, Assistant Professor, Statistics, Department of Community Medicine; Dr. Priyanka Shridharan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry; Dr. Vinaya K. V., Tutor, Department of Biochemistry; and Dr. Deepu M. S., Tutor, Department of Biochemistry. The faculty members actively participated in the scientific sessions, academic deliberations, and poster presentation sessions, showcasing their research contributions while engaging in meaningful scientific discussions with experts and researchers from national and international institutions. Their participation reflected the institution’s continued commitment to promoting interdisciplinary research, academic excellence, innovation, and collaborative scientific engagement in the field of health sciences.

The scientific programme featured a wide range of sessions covering Translational Medicine, Molecular Medicine, Biotechnology, Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Public Health, Clinical Research, Medical Informatics, Biomedical Innovations, Precision Medicine, and Interdisciplinary Healthcare Research. Renowned experts from India, Japan, Singapore, China, Ethiopia, Thailand, and several other countries delivered invited lectures and presented their latest research findings, providing participants with valuable insights into emerging scientific developments and advanced research methodologies.

One of the major attractions of the conference was the Poster Presentation Session, where researchers, postgraduate students, Ph.D. scholars, and healthcare professionals showcased their innovative research. The presentations encouraged scientific discussions, constructive feedback, and collaborative learning among participants. To recognize excellence in research, awards were presented for Three Best Posters in Life Sciences, Two Best Posters in Medical Sciences, and Two Best Posters in Health Informatics, with the winners receiving certificates and mementos for their outstanding contributions.

The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, medical professionals, scientists, researchers, Ph.D. scholars, postgraduate students, healthcare practitioners, and delegates representing numerous national and international institutions. Certificates of participation were distributed to all registered delegates, while winners of the poster competition were honoured with awards and mementos.
