ISA Karnataka State Chapter Webinar on Early Recognition and Evidence-Based Management of Sepsis

The Department of Anaesthesiology, Adichunchunagiri University, successfully organized a high-level academic webinar under the guidance of Dr Manjula (AIMS, Bellur) and Dr Renuka. R (BGSMCH, Nagarur), in collaboration with the ISA Karnataka State Chapter on June 19, 2026. This virtual session focused on the critical clinical challenge of sepsis, which continues to be a primary driver of preventable mortality in healthcare settings worldwide. By centering the discussion on early recognition and rapid intervention, the webinar sought to equip medical practitioners with the essential knowledge required to improve patient survival rates through standardized care protocols.

The academic proceedings were moderated by Dr.Manjula R. The session bridged the gap between complex physiological theory and practical clinical application. The webinar was structured to provide a holistic overview of sepsis management, moving from the biological foundations of the condition to the most recent evidence based clinical guidelines.

Dr. Shravya M. S., Assistant Professor at the Adichunchunagiri Institute of Medical Sciences in Bellur, Mandya, delivered the opening lecture titled Introduction to Sepsis.

Continuing the discourse, Dr. Kavyashree M. Arun, Senior Resident at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, Bengaluru, presented a comprehensive analysis of the Surviving Sepsis Guidelines. Her session focused on the latest recommendations from the Surviving Sepsis

Campaign, offering participants a clear roadmap for implementing evidence-based treatments. This included discussions on hemodynamic support, antimicrobial stewardship, and the importance of localized institutional protocols in achieving better clinical outcomes.

The event concluded with an interactive dialogue between the speakers and a diverse audience of clinicians and residents. By facilitating this exchange of knowledge, the ISA Karnataka State Chapter and the organizing department underscored their commitment to continuous medical education. The insights shared during this webinar empower practitioners to deliver timely and precise care, directly addressing the complexities of sepsis management in modern medical practice.
