“Vikasana” — Fostering Academic Excellence at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagaruru

BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, under the aegis of Adichunchanagiri University, conducted an academic programme titled “Vikasana” — Fostering Academic Excellence on 11th February 2026 at the MEU Hall. The session focused on “Quality Assurance in Theory-Based Assessment: Question Paper Setting and Assessment Benchmarks.”
The programme was organized by the Medical Education Unit (MEU) with the objective of strengthening assessment practices and promoting competency-based medical education through structured and quality-driven evaluation methods.
Event Proceedings
The session was graced by Dr. Munir Ahmed, MD (Hom), MBA (Edn Mgt), PG Dip Med Ed, Dip TESOL, as the Guest Speaker. Dr. Munir Ahmed is the Head of Academics, Shiksha X, Bengaluru, and the Former Director of the RGUHS Academic and Administrative Training Institute (RAATI).
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. K.S. Gangadhara, MEU Chairman and Dean cum Principal, and Dr. V R Krishnamurthy, Chief of the Hospital and coordinated by Dr. Satish S. Patil, Professor of Physiology and MEU Coordinator, along with the active support of Team MEU, BGS MCH. Dr. Sandhya Rani, Professor, Department of Anesthesiology, was the master of ceremony.
Dr. Munir Ahmed delivered an insightful and structured presentation addressing the principles of quality assurance in theory-based assessments. The session emphasized the importance of systematic question paper setting, maintaining assessment benchmarks, and aligning evaluations with competency-based curricula. Faculty members from various departments of BGSMCH, Adichunchanagiri Ayurvedic Medical College, BGS VINS, BGS VIPT, BGS VIAHS, actively participated in the interactive discussions that followed the presentation.
