Introduction
To commemorate National Pathology Day 2025 under the theme “Pathology is Vital”, the Department of Pathology, BGSMCH organized an engaging event titled “From Cells to Safety: The Cervical Cancer Initiative”. The program aimed to raise awareness about cervical cancer and emphasize the crucial role of pathology in healthcare.

Programme Highlights
Expert Talks:
- Dr. Indumati, Associate Professor, Dept of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, delivered an informative session on “Cervical Cancer Screening & Prevention: Guidelines & Recommendations”.
- Dr. Vani Ravikumar, Consultant Pathologist, RV Metropolis Diagnostic and Healthcare Centre, Bangalore, explained “Interpretation of Pap Smear & Further Investigations”.
- Dr. Ramesh, Professor and HOD, Dept of Paediatrics, BGSMCH, spoke about “Importance of HPV Vaccination & Cervical Cancer Prevention”.
Each talk was followed by interactive Q&A sessions, fostering a deeper understanding among the attendees.
Special Activities
- Prize Distribution: Winners of the Pathology Open Puzzles (POP) competition were felicitated with prizes, encouraging participation and academic enthusiasm among faculty.

Conclusion
The event was a grand success, with active participation from faculty members of BGSMCH, BGSVINS, AMC, and BGSVIPT. The sessions provided valuable insights into preventive pathology and underscored the importance of early cancer screening.
