Janyasiri 2 – A Grand Seemantha Celebration Advancing Safe Motherhood and Community Well-Being at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur

Janyasiri 2, a grand Seemantha celebration for pregnant women registered at BGS Medical College and Hospital and in their 7th to 9th months of gestation, was conducted on 20th February 2026 with devotion, cultural richness, and medical significance.
The programme was conducted under the divine blessings of our Founder, Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, and our Chancellor, Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, whose vision continues to inspire community-oriented healthcare initiatives that integrate spirituality, service, and modern medical excellence.
The event commenced at 10:00 a.m. with a soulful invocation song rendered by medical students, creating an auspicious beginning.
Inaugural Ceremony
The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Triveni, Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, who highlighted the importance of empowering expectant mothers through awareness, accessible care, and emotional support. This was followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries on the dais.
The dignitaries present included:
•Dr. K.S. Gangadhara, Dean cum Principal, and Mrs. Pratibha Gangadhara
•Dr. Krishnamurthy V.R., Chief of Hospital, and Mrs. Anuradha Krishnamurthy
•Dr. Pradeep, Resident Medical Officer
•Heads of the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesia, Radiology, Community Medicine, and Paediatrics
Launch of BGS MCH Janyasiri WhatsApp Community
A major highlight of the event was the grand launch of the BGS MCH Janyasiri WhatsApp Community, a digital health initiative designed to provide verified medical guidance directly to pregnant women, postpartum mothers, and families.
Through this platform, doctors will share regular health tips and updates related to pregnancy, delivery, postpartum care, and child health. A QR code was displayed for instant registration, and the process was guided for all attendees. The initiative was introduced by Dr. Sajan Madappady, Digital Health Consultant, Adichunchanagiri University.
Health Education & Awareness Sessions
Informative health videos were presented on:
•The importance of physiotherapy during various trimesters of pregnancy by Ms. Siri, Physiotherapist.
•Nutritional guidance for expectant mothers, along with a live demonstration of preparing a healthy, nutrition-rich snack — Makhana Ladoo — by Ms. Bindu, Dietitian and Nutritionist.
        • A Skit by Medical Students on Beliefs and practices in the  Community regarding pregnancy care.
An exclusive Janyasiri video presentation portrayed the journey of a mother from conception at home, through antenatal care at BGS Medical College and Hospital, safe delivery, and her return home with a healthy newborn — reflecting the institution’s comprehensive maternal care services.
Leadership Addresses
Dr. K.S. Gangadhara, Principal cum Dean, addressed the gathering and elaborated on the hospital’s facilities, including affordable delivery packages — ₹5,000 for normal delivery and ₹8,000 for Caesarean section — ensuring accessible and affordable maternal care. He also outlined upcoming superspeciality services planned for community benefit.
Dr. Krishnamurthy V.R. emphasized effective utilization of these services and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to quality and compassionate healthcare.
Dr. Ramesh, Head of Pediatrics, delivered an informative talk on neonatal and newborn care, covering breastfeeding techniques, thermal care, vaccination schedules, and essential child care practices.
Traditional Seemantha Ceremony
The central highlight of Janyasiri 2 was the traditional Seemantha ceremony conducted in a culturally vibrant manner. Eleven pregnant women were symbolically honoured by the dignitaries, representing all expectant mothers present. Traditional offerings, including Tambola and Bagin, were presented, invoking blessings for safe motherhood and healthy childbirth.
Subsequently, Seemantha rituals were conducted for all 425 pregnant women assembled, making it a spiritually uplifting and inclusive celebration of motherhood.
Conclusion
The event witnessed the participation of nearly 425 pregnant women along with their families, with total attendance exceeding 1,000 participants. The programme concluded with a grand lunch arranged for all attendees, fostering community bonding and celebration.
Janyasiri 2 stands as a meaningful initiative that beautifully blends tradition, spirituality, health education, digital innovation, and affordable healthcare — reinforcing BGS Medical College and Hospital’s unwavering commitment to advancing safe motherhood and holistic community well-being.
