International Women’s Day Celebration 2026 at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagaruru
International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, on 17th March 2026. The event was organized to honor the achievements of women, promote gender equality, and encourage empowerment in all aspects of life, especially within the healthcare sector.
The program began with an invocation, seeking the divine blessings of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji and His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji. The celebration was graced by the presence of Dr. K. S. Gangadhar, Dean and Principal, and Dr. Krishnamurthy, Medical Superintendent, whose presence added great significance to the occasion.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Suma, Professor, Department of Anatomy, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, chief guest, faculty, and students. She highlighted the importance of recognizing and appreciating the contributions of women in healthcare and society.
The chief guest for the occasion was Dr. Pushpalatha K. R., Gynecologist at Nelamangala Government Hospital. She was introduced with emphasis on her notable contributions to public health, particularly her role in implementing menstrual leave policies and promoting HPV vaccination within the government healthcare system. Her address was insightful and inspiring, focusing on women’s health, empowerment, and the need for continued awareness and advocacy.
The event included a series of engaging and entertaining activities such as medical-themed dumb charades, emoji guessing games, pick-and-act sessions, and fun hospital-based scenarios. These activities created a lively atmosphere and encouraged participation and teamwork among staff and students.
A felicitation ceremony was conducted to honor the chief guest for her valuable contributions, during which she was presented with a token of appreciation. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of various competitions and games, recognizing their enthusiasm and creativity.
Special acknowledgment was extended to the organizing team for their dedicated efforts, the digital team for their support, and Mr. Nanda for his timely assistance in ensuring the smooth conduct of the program.
The celebration concluded on a positive and inspiring note, reinforcing the importance of empowering women and striving towards a more inclusive and equitable society. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sindhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, who expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, participants, and supporters who contributed to the success of the event.
