SDG Global Week Celebration at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur

Introduction

As part of the Global Goal Week Celebrations, the SDG Cell of BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, organized a special programme on 23rd September 2025 . The event highlighted SDG Goal 2 – Zero Hunger and SDG Goal 17 – Partnerships, aligning with the United Nations’ call for sustainable development. The objective was to raise awareness, foster collaboration, and inspire collective action among the academic and healthcare community.

Event Proceedings

The programme commenced at 11:45 a.m. with Dr. Krutika Naik, Associate Professor and AHS Coordinator, serving as the Master of Ceremony. She welcomed the dignitaries and participants and guided the flow of the sessions.

The event was graced by eminent dignitaries:

  • Dr. K.S. Gangadhara, Dean cum Principal, BGS MCH

  • Dr. Sheshagiri, COH

  • Dr. Pradeep, RMO, BGS MCH

  • Swami Jeevan Muktha Das Prabhu Ji, ISKCON Bengaluru (Chief Guest)

  • Swami Suchandra Das Prabhu Ji, ISKCON Bengaluru (Guest of Honor)

The inaugural session began with the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment.

  • The Chief Guest, Swami Jeevan Muktha Das Prabhu Ji, delivered an interactive and inspiring talk on “Zero Hunger”, stressing the urgency of addressing malnutrition and ensuring food security for all.

  • The Guest of Honor, Swami Suchandra Das Prabhu Ji, spoke on the theme of “Partnerships”, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among institutions, communities, and stakeholders to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the celebrations, an online quiz competition was also conducted. Out of 34 participants, five students who answered all questions correctly were felicitated with prizes during the event.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Cicily P J, Principal, Nursing College, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty, staff, and students for their enthusiastic participation.

Conclusion

The SDG Global Week Celebration at BGS MCH successfully promoted awareness of the themes Zero Hunger and Partnerships, inspiring the community to reflect on its collective responsibility toward sustainable development. The event reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, while also contributing to SDG 1 – No Poverty.
