Sapling Plantation Drive’ – World Environment Day Observance and ‘Distribution of Booklets’ on the Observance of World No Tobacco Day as a part of Family Adoption Programme.
On June 7th, the Department of Community Medicine organized a Family Adoption Programme for first-year MBBS students. As part of the initiative and in observance of World Environment Day, students planted saplings in various locations near their assigned localities where this activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable living practices among the local population. Additionally, in recognition of World No Tobacco Day observed the previous week, the students engaged with their adopted families to raise awareness and to educate them about the harmful effects of tobacco use and the importance of tobacco cessation. To reinforce these messages, informative booklets on the ill effects of tobacco and available support for quitting were distributed to households in the area.
