BGS Vijnatham Institute of Nursing Sciences Hosts Nutri Care Fest 2026 to Advance Nutritional Awareness
The BGS Vijnatham Institute of Nursing Sciences recently organized a comprehensive academic and outreach event titled Nutri Care Fest 19 August 2026 at the institution nutrition laboratory. This initiative was specifically designed to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom instruction and the practical application of nutritional sciences. By fostering an environment of experiential learning, the program sought to deepen student understanding of dietary requirements and their critical role in clinical practice and public health.
The core of the event featured a rigorous nutritional food preparation and awareness competition involving five distinct student groups. Each cohort was tasked with focusing on a specific dietary category including iron rich diets, calcium rich diets, protein rich diets, low fat diets, and the fundamental principles of a balanced diet. Participants were required to prepare and creatively display various nutritious food items while delivering detailed presentations on their nutritional value, specific health benefits, primary food sources, and their efficacy in preventing chronic nutritional deficiencies.
The program was attended by an esteemed panel of dignitaries and guests from across the medical and academic spectrum. Notable attendees included Dr. K. S. Gangadhara, Dean cum Principal of BGSMCH, and Dr. Ramesh, Head of the Department of Pediatrics. The event also saw participation from Dr. Tanveer, Dr. Muralidhar from the Department of Community Health Medicine, and Dr. Sathish Patel from the Department of Physiology. Leadership from the allied health sciences and pharmacy sectors was represented by Dr. Shriharsha C., Principal of BGS VINS, and Dr. Madan Mohan M. R., Principal of BGS VIPT. The competition was adjudicated by Dr. Kusuma, Dietician at BGSMCH, and Dr. Mrs. Payal Bharadwaj M. R., Principal of BGS VIAHS, who evaluated the students on their clinical accuracy and presentation skills.
Beyond the academic exercise, the event served a significant community service function. Following the laboratory presentations, the dietary displays were moved to the hospital reception area to serve as an educational exhibit for patients, attendants, staff, and the general public. This transition from a controlled learning environment to a public health awareness campaign provided students with invaluable experience in health education, leadership, and professional communication. By integrating experiential learning with community outreach, Nutri Care Fest 2026 successfully promoted the vital importance of balanced nutrition and healthy eating habits to a broad audience.
