The Department of Anaesthesiology at St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, successfully hosted the 40th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Karnataka State Chapter – ISACON Karnataka 2026, from August 7 to 9, 2026. The milestone conference brought together leading anaesthesiologists, medical professionals, researchers, and students to discuss emerging advancements in anaesthesia, perioperative care, patient safety, and clinical practice.
The three-day scientific programme featured high-level plenary sessions, workshops, panel discussions, and academic presentations covering diverse areas of modern anaesthesia, including critical care, regional anaesthesia, pain medicine, perioperative management, and patient safety. A significant highlight was the participation of Dr. Ramesh R., who represented BGS Medical College and Hospital as an invited faculty member. Adding to BGS MCH’s academic presence, Dr. Sandya Rani D. C., Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology, BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagaruru, participated as an invited faculty member. She delivered an insightful presentation on “Personalised Perioperative Fluid and Transfusion Strategies.”
Her presentation highlighted the importance of moving beyond standardized approaches towards individualized perioperative fluid and transfusion management. She discussed how patient-specific physiological parameters and clinical requirements can guide tailored strategies, helping to minimize complications, optimize recovery, and improve surgical outcomes.
