Lamp lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony BSc Nursing Ist Semester Batch 2025–26
The Lamp lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony of the I st Semester BGS VINS nursing Batch (2025–26) was held on 16th February 2026 from 10:30 AM to 01:15 PM in the Multipurpose Hall, New Building, BGSMCH. The programme marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the newly admitted students, symbolizing their formal initiation into the noble profession of nursing.
The ceremony was gracefully anchored by Mr. Mir Danish Altaf and Ms. I D Hemreiliu, who guided the proceedings with poise and warmth. The event commenced with a cordial welcome address delivered by Prof. Mrs. Vita Leena D’ Souza, Vice Principal, who extended her greetings to the dignitaries, faculty members, proud parents, and students.
The formal inauguration of the ceremony was carried out with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in the esteemed presence of the guests of honour, Dr. K. Mallu, Registrar, KSNC and Dr. B. V. Kathayayani, Principal, College of Nursing, NIMHANS, and esteemed guests,Dr. K.S. Gangadhara, Dean Cum Principal, BGSMCH, Dr. Krishnamurthy V. R.,COH ,BGSMCH and Mr. Ravichandra, Chief Architect, ACU symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the pursuit of knowledge.
The college report was then presented by Lt. Col. Cecily P. J., Principal, BGS VINS, who highlighted the institution’s achievements, academic excellence, and milestones accomplished during the academic year.
A solemn moment of the programme was the administration of the Florence Nightingale Oath, led by Dr. K. Mallu, Registrar, KSNC. The students pledged themselves to the ideals and ethics of the nursing profession, reaffirming their commitment to compassionate care and professional integrity.
The gathering was further enriched by insightful addresses delivered by the esteemed guests of honour Dr.K. Mallu and Dr. B.V.Kathayayani, other esteemed guests Dr. K. S. Gangadhara, Dean Cum Principal, BGSMCH, Dr. Krishnamurthy V. R.,COH ,BGSMCH and Mr. Ravichandra, Chief Architect, ACU who inspired the students with their words of wisdom and encouragement.
As part of the ceremony, meritorious students were recognized and awarded for their academic excellence. The prizes were presented by Parama Poojya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji to Ms. Athulya Krishna who secured the University first Rank, Ms. Niranjana Jeyaprakah and Mr. Sabari Aji shared the second position, and Mr. Rihaan Joy secured the third position.
The students were blessed with Ashirvachana by Parama Poojya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, whose words invoked divine guidance and blessings for their future endeavors.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Mrs. Yashaswini G, who expressed sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, management, faculty, students, and all those who contributed to the success of the event.
