Introduction

The Department of Pediatrics, BGS Medical College & Hospital, Nagarur, celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm at BGS English School, Tavarekere, on 14 November 2025. The programme aimed to promote child health, creativity, and well-being, while fostering active engagement between students, faculty, and the community. The event also aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, reflecting the institution’s commitment to supporting healthy lives and holistic development in children.

Event Proceedings

The celebration commenced with a warm welcome address by the Chief of Hospital, BGS MCH, setting a joyful and encouraging tone for the event. The programme was attended by distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Vidhya G. Mirji, Dr. Nagaraj M. V., Dr. Adithi, Dr. Mamatha P., Dr. Uday Kumar, Dr. Suresh Gogi, along with the PRO staff.

A special address was organised by the Department of Pediatrics, during which Dr. Ramesh M., Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, delivered an inspiring and informative talk on children’s health, preventive care, and overall well-being. His message emphasized the importance of nurturing healthy habits and emotional resilience in children from an early age.

Students participated enthusiastically in a variety of activities, including a fancy-dress competition, which added vibrancy and joy to the event. Colourful displays, creative pictures, and thematic decorations enhanced the festive atmosphere.

A drawing competition, PIC competition, and speech competition allowed children to showcase their creativity, confidence, and communication skills. All participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and talent.

To make the celebration even more special, food was distributed to all the students, bringing smiles and delight to the young attendees. The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognising the efforts and talents of the participating children.
