Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur
Introduction
BGS Medical College and Hospital (BGSMCH), Nagarur, celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour on 29 November 2025, honouring the rich linguistic, cultural, and artistic heritage of Karnataka. The celebration reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting cultural inclusivity, regional identity, and holistic development among students, faculty members, and staff.
Event Proceedings
The event commenced with an energetic flash mob performance by the second-year MBBS students, setting an enthusiastic and celebratory tone for the programme. The cult ural segment that followed was vibrant and engaging, showcasing the rich diversity of Karnataka’s artistic traditions. Veeragase, a powerful and energetic folk dance symbolizing valor and devotion, was performed by PU students and captivated the audience with its rhythm and intensity. Solo classical dance performances by students and faculty highlighted the grace, discipline, and aesthetic depth of Karnataka’s classical art forms, while group dances portraying unity in diversity reflected the cultural vibrancy of the state. Carnatic music renditions added classical musical depth and devotional fervour to the celebration. In addition, cinematic songs and dance performances by both students and faculty brought contemporary appeal and enthusiastic participation. A thoughtfully enacted theatrical skit conveyed meaningful social and cultural messages, emphasizing the relevance of language and tradition in modern times. The programme was further enriched by a fashion show representing various districts of Karnataka, curated and presented by the faculty of the Department of Anatomy, which showcased traditional attire and regional cultural identities, earning special appreciation from the audience. The event received strong support from faculty and staff members, whose active involvement ensured smooth coordination and successful execution, while the speeches delivered throughout the programme consistently emphasized the importance of preserving the Kannada language, culture, and heritage, particularly among the younger generation.
The programme commenced on an auspicious and patriotic note with the rendition of the State Anthem of Karnataka, “Nadageethe,” which set a solemn and proud tone for the event and evoked a deep sense of unity among the gathering.
The celebration was graced by the distinguished presence of Shri Mandya Ramesh, renowned actor, theatre personality, and cultural icon, who attended as the Chief Guest. His presence greatly enriched the programme and inspired the audience. The Chief Guest was formally introduced by Dr. Shilpa M., Professor, Department of Physiology.
