CME on AI PHARMA 2026 at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagaruru

Introduction

The Department of Pharmacology, BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur, organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program titled “AI PHARMA 2026 – Innovation, Education and Precision Care” on 10th April 2026 at BGS Medical College and Hospital campus, Nagarur. The program focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence in pharmacology and its impact on healthcare and medical education.

The event witnessed active participation from around 200 delegates, including faculty members, clinicians, and students, both offline and online.

Event Proceedings

The program was inaugurated by Dr. K S Gangadhara, Dean cum Principal, along with Dr. Krishna Murthy V R, Chief of Hospital, and Dr. Prithvi Shankar, Vice Principal.

The academic sessions began with Dr. Indushree T, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, SMCRI, Tumakuru, who delivered a talk on “Artificial Intelligence in Drug Development: From Molecule to Market.” This was followed by Dr. Sudha M J, Director, Healiosmed Education Pvt. Ltd., who spoke on “Precision Pharmacology: AI-Based Prescribing.”

Post inauguration, Dr. Radhika Sherkhane, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, SDM, Dharwad, conducted a session titled “The EdAI Classroom – Chalk, Clicks & Chatbots,” focusing on AI in teaching methodologies. This was followed by Dr. Shubha Praveen, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, BGS MCH, Nagarur, who presented “Study Smarter: AI Tools for Future Doctor.”

In the afternoon session, Dr. Sajjan Madappady, Digital Head & AI Consultant, delivered a talk on “From Idea to Book: AI-Powered Strategies to Write and Publish Your First Book.”

The CME also featured a poster presentation competition involving postgraduate students from various institutions. The posters were evaluated by Dr. Asha B and Dr. Shashikala G H.

A unique highlight of the event was the hackathon competition, where Phase 1 and Phase 2 MBBS students developed AI-based applications and webpages for teaching and patient care. This initiative reflected innovation and practical application of AI concepts. The hackathon was judged by Dr. Lohith K and Dr. Nalini G K.

The program concluded with a panel discussion on “Role of AI in Implementing CBME in Pharmacology,” featuring experts including Dr. Manjunath G N, Dr. Santosh M, Dr. Kokila B N, Dr. Rajesh B, and Dr. Shubha Praveen, and was moderated by Dr. Santhosh R.

The valedictory function marked the formal closure of the CME, and winners of the poster and hackathon competitions were awarded certificates and prizes.
