Faculty Development Programme on “Basics of Scientific Publishing” at BGS Medical College & Hospital, Nagarur, Bengaluru
A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) session on “Basics of Scientific Publishing” was conducted at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur with the objective of strengthening faculty competencies in scientific writing and ethical publishing practices on 14th January 2026 by Dr. Raghuram V, Professor & Head , Department of Community Medicine and Member Secretary , Scientific Committee.
The session commenced with a introduction of the speaker by Dr. Anu Mohandas, Co-Convener, Scientific Committee. The objectives of the session included orienting participants to the fundamentals of scientific publishing, plagiarism checks, and the effective use of emerging AI tools to support academic writing.
During the session, Dr. Raghuram V spoke about the importance of Scientific publishing being the foundation of medical education, research, and clinical practice, serving as a vital conduit for translating research findings into meaningful and credible knowledge provided. This session aimed to provide key insights into the fundamental principles and best practices of scientific publishing, plagiarism detection and prevention, and the effective use of emerging AI-based tools to support ethical and high-quality academic writing. The session was interactive, with active participation from faculty members, fostering meaningful discussion and clarification of practical challenges faced in scientific publishing. The programme concluded with a note encouraging faculty members to actively apply the knowledge gained to enhance the quality and integrity of their scholarly work. The FDP was well-received and contributed significantly towards building research and publication capacity among faculty members of BGS Medical College and Hospital.
