Faculty Development Programme on Project Quality Initiatives in Theory-Based Assessment (Pro-QIT) at BGS Vijnatham Institute of Nursing Sciences, Nagarur

 

Introduction

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Project Quality Initiatives in Theory-Based Assessment (Pro-QIT)” was successfully conducted on 20th and 21st February 2026 by BGS Vijnatham Institute of Nursing Sciences, ACU Bengaluru Campus, Nagarur, at the MEU Hall, BGS Medical College and Hospital. The programme was organized for UG and PG nursing faculty, newly appointed faculty members, and academic coordinators with the objective of strengthening competencies in outcome-based education and theory-driven assessment practices in accordance with INC norms.

The FDP featured distinguished resource persons Dr. Dhanpal H. N., Principal cum Professor, Victory College of Nursing, and Prof. Sathyasri R., Principal, Harsha College of Nursing, who shared their expertise and guided participants through structured sessions aimed at enhancing academic quality and assessment planning.

Event Proceedings

The programme commenced with an inaugural ceremony on Day 1, where Mrs. Anupama Yadav delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants. This was followed by an address by Lt Col Cecily P. J, who emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and quality enhancement in nursing education.

The inaugural session was followed by a pre-test to assess the baseline knowledge of the participants. The technical sessions on Day 1 were conducted by Dr. Dhanpal H. N, focusing on key concepts such as Outcome-Based Education, Gilbert’s Model of Education, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Curriculum Alignment. These sessions provided valuable insights into designing effective theory-based assessments aligned with learning outcomes. A total of 22 delegates actively participated in the programme.

Day 2 began with a recap session, revisiting the major concepts discussed on the previous day. The sessions were then continued by Prof. Sathyasri R, who conducted interactive and hands-on activities on Course Outcome (CO) and Learning Outcome (LO) Mapping, as well as Subject Attainment Analysis. These practical exercises enabled participants to apply theoretical knowledge to real academic scenarios. A post-test conducted at the end of the sessions demonstrated significant improvement in the participants’ understanding of outcome-based assessment practices.

J, and Prof. Vita Leena Dsouza. Certificates were distributed to all participants in recognition of their active involvement in the programme.

The FDP concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, resource persons, organizing team, and participants for their valuable contribution to the success of the event. Overall, the programme proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing faculty knowledge and skills in structured assessment planning and academic quality improvement, thereby contributing to the advancement of nursing education at BGS VINS.
