SANKALPA – Orientation Programme of MBBS Batch 2025–2026
Introduction
The Orientation Programme for the MBBS Batch 2025–2026 was held at BGS Medical College & Hospital, Nagarur, on 18th October 2025 to welcome the newly admitted students and their parents into the institution. The event aimed to familiarize students with the college environment, academic framework, values, and support systems that will guide them through their journey in medical education.
Event Proceedings
The programme commenced with the State Song of Karnataka – Nada Geethe, followed by a devotional invocation song performed by second-year MBBS students.
Dr. Suma MP, Professor, Department of Anatomy, delivered the Welcome Address, warmly greeting the gathering. A special video presentation titled “Transformative Journey of BGS Medical College & Hospital”, created by the Digital Health & AI Centre, was then showcased, highlighting the mission, growth, and milestones of the institution. This was followed by the traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony, signifying the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
Subsequently, the Orientation Sessions were conducted as per the scheduled programme by the heads of respective departments. The sessions covered essential topics including:
Overview of the MBBS curriculum
- Overview of First Year MBBS Subjects
Do’s and Don’ts for students
Anti-ragging guidelines
Hostel rules and regulations
Family Adoption Programme
Mentor–Mentee System
Following the academic briefings, inspiring addresses were delivered by Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor (AC) and Dr. Subbaraya, Registrar, who emphasized discipline, dedication, and professional ethics.
The gathering was then blessed with the Ashirvachana of His Holiness Sri Sri Soumyanatha Swamiji, who urged students to uphold compassion and service in their medical journey.
There was also a felicitation ceremony to honour the two highest-ranking NEET achievers who secured admission to our institution. Ms. Snigdha, a second-year MBBS student, shared her reflections on her first-year journey at BGS MCH, offering insights and encouragement to the new batch. Additionally, a newly admitted student and a parent from the MBBS Batch 2025–26 addressed the gathering, sharing their inspiring journey to securing a seat at BGS MCH, along with their expectations for the academic path ahead.
The session continued with addresses by the Principal cum Dean, Dr. K. S. Gangadhara, and Chief of Hospital, Dr. V. R. Krishnamurthy, encouraging students to make the best use of academic and clinical learning opportunities at BGS.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Mallikarjun Sulligavi, Associate Professor of Biochemistry, followed by the National Anthem.
Conclusion
The Orientation Programme set a positive and inspiring beginning for the 2025–26 MBBS batch, instilling confidence and a sense of belonging among the new students. The institution extends its best wishes to the budding doctors as they embark on their noble academic journey at BGS Medical College & Hospital, Nagarur.
