Scabies Health Screening Camp for the students at Dhanvanthari Sri Narayana Samskruti Bhavana and Goshale, Sri Adhichunchana, Kuduregere, Bangalore

Introduction

BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur organized a Scabies Health Screening Camp and Awareness Programme on 12 February 2026 at Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Kudurgere. The programme was jointly conducted by the Department of Community Medicine and the Department of Dermatology as part of the institution’s ongoing community outreach and preventive healthcare initiatives.

The primary objective of the programme was to conduct dermatological examinations for the early detection of scabies among residential school children and staff, and to educate students on basic hygiene practices to prevent skin infections.

Event Proceedings

A medical team consisting of Dr. Ragavendra, Dr. Satheesh B.C., Dr. Arun P. Sasi, Dr. Angerikula Nagendra, and Mr. Lokesh from the Departments of Community Medicine and Dermatology conducted systematic dermatological screening for the school children and staff members, covering a total of 36 participants.

The screening primarily focused on identifying cases of scabies and other common dermatological conditions. Students and staff diagnosed with suspected cases were provided guidance regarding appropriate treatment, preventive measures, and personal hygiene practices.

The medical team also conducted interactive health education sessions emphasizing the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, including regular bathing, proper washing of clothes and bedding, and avoiding the sharing of personal items. Necessary medications were provided free of cost to the affected students and staff members.
