World Oral Health Day Organized by the Department of Dentistry on March 20, 2025 at BGS Medical College Hospital,
On March 20, 2025, BGS Medical College Hospital, Nagarur, celebrated World Oral Health Day with great enthusiasm. Organized by the Department of Dentistry, the event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene and its impact on overall health.
In the week leading up to the event, digital educational pamphlets were circulated among the local public, encouraging oral health awareness and preventive care.The day began with the distribution of free oral hygiene kits, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouthwash, to all in-patients—empowering them with the essentials to maintain good oral health.The inaugural ceremony was marked by the lighting of the lamp by Dr. Krishnamurthy V R, Chief of Hospital, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the vital role oral health plays in overall well-being.Dr. Sapna Jyoti, Associate Professor, Department of Dentistry, provided valuable insights on maintaining oral hygiene and offered practical tips for better dental care.
As part of the event, a specialized training program on personal oral hygiene and specialized oral care for ICU and in-patients was conducted for nursing staff in two batches.
The first session was led by Dr. Pavithra Prabakaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Dentistry.The second batch was trained by Dr. Nikhil N, Associate Professor, Department of Dentistry.* The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Bindushree R V, Senior Resident, Department of Dentistry, ensuring the smooth execution of all activities.* l
